Agra Metro Achieves A Momentous Feat, Tunnel Segments Casting Complete
Agra, November 23 (TNA) The casting of the last ring segment for the TBMs operating in the remaining underground stretch ( SN Medical College Station to RBS College Station) has been successfully completed. This reiterates UPMRC’s commitment to timely project completion while following all international safety and quality standards.
The last ring segment was cast in the Underground Casting Yard in the Rahan Kala area. Senior officials, including PD Agra Shri Arvind Rai and others, were present on this momentous occasion.
It is to be noted that around 6 ring segments made out of Pre Cast technique are joined together by the moving TBM to make one ring of around 5.8 metres. All the ring segments are interlocked with each other and all the rings are interlocked with each other, thereby constructing a tunnel.
Speaking on this occasion, MD UPMRC Shri Sushil Kumar said,” Civil works on the balance underground stretch of the first corridor are going on at a rapid pace and the stations are also taking shape. We are committed to commencing metro operations on the balance stretch within our timeline, as we have on the priority stretch.
Agra metro has also set a record for the fastest and safest 3 km long tunnel construction in a record time of 11 months. We will follow the same momentum and quality for the balanced stretch as well and give a world-class metro to the people of Agra.”
