Agra Family Washed Away In Saryu River In Ayodhya, Five Bodies Fished Out, Six Rescued
Ayodhya, July 9 (TNA) Fifteen persons were washed away in the sacred Saryu river in Ayodhya district of Uttar Pradesh on Friday, police said. While three managed to swim to safety and three others were rescued by divers deployed by the police, five bodies have been fished out.
Divers are looking for the maining, a police official told TNA. He further informed that all the people who met with this mishap were from Agra and had come to the holy town to have darshan of Ram Lalla. They decided to take a holy dip in the river and went a little deep into the river at Guptar ghat.
Two ladies of the family slipped into the river and seeing them drown, other family members bathing near by tried to come to their rescue but all of them ere washed away by the strong current.
District Magistrate Anuj Kumar Jha and senior district police officials soon reached the Guptar ghat and oversaw the rescue and relief operations. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath also took note of the mishap, an official informed and added that the office was monitoring the situation from Lucknow.
