After A Long Gap, Active Covid Cases In UP Cross 2000

Lucknow, June 18 (TNA) After a long gap of more than four months, new Covid cases in Uttar Pradesh are once again on a rise. According to government figures, the number of active patients in UP on Friday crossed 2100, with the highest number of new cases coming in from Noida - Gautam Budh Nagar.

Data shows that while more than 93 thousand people were examined in the state in the last 24-hours, 462 new infected patients were found. In this, the maximum number of cases - 95, were found in Gautam Budh Nagar district. With 83 fresh Covid cases, Lucknow came a close second.

Similarly, 52 people have been found infected in Ghaziabad, 22 in Varanasi and 14 in Jhansi. 9 cases have been found in Kanpur city, 19 in Hardoi, 13 in Aligarh, 12 in Mathura, 13 in Chandauli and 8 in Meerut district. The state government has asked all district officials to step up vigil in wake of the spike and has urged people to be careful while in public places, maintain social distancing and also to wear masks.
