Accountant Arrested In Prayagraj For Embezzlement Of Rs 1.2 Crores

Prayagraj, Sep 15 (TNA) An accountant has been arrested by the economic offence wing (EoW) of the Uttar Pradesh police for embezzlement of Rs 1.2 crores. He has since been sent to jail after completion of due process, an official informed. The accused is originally a resident of Jagdishpur, Ambedkar Nagar district.

In 2014, he was accused of falsifying government records and embezzling Rs 1.2 crore through forged documents. The accused Madan Gopal Gaur posted in the DPRO office located at Vikas Bhavan was arrested by the team of Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) on Wednesday. The team from Lucknow took him to the Colonelganj police station, where after wards he was sent to jail with the permission of the court.

In this case, the then officers had lodged a report at the Colonelganj police station. The matter was of huge amount, so after a few days the investigation was handed over to the EOW. Acting on the basis of the evidence found in the investigation, the EOW arrested him.
