Acclaimed Theater Personality And Litterateur Urmil Kumar Thapliyal Passes Away At 78

Lucknow, July 20 (TNA) Renowned theater director, satirist and eminent columnist Urmil Kumar Thapliyal passed away at his Indiranagar residence in the state capital on Tuesday, his family said. He was 78.

He was suffering from intestinal cancer for long and had been in and out of medical facilities for some time now, a relative informed. He returned home on July 17 after being discharged from the hospital but breath his last at his residence on Tuesday.

With his demise, the theater world plunged into mourning. He is survived by his 70-year-old wife Bina Thapliyal, son Ritesh Thapliyal, daughter Ritun Mishra and son-in-law Satyendra Mishra. Thapliyal will be cremated on Wednesday at Bhainsakund at 9 am

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also condoled the death of well-known theater artist and litterateur. In his condolence message, the Chief Minister said that Thapliyal enriched the world of theater and literature with his talent. "It is difficult to compensate for the loss caused to the art and literary world by the death of Shri Thapliyal" he stated.
