A Village Head In UP Sends SOS To DM, Lists Names Of 16 Who Died Of COVID Like Symptoms

Lucknow, May 10 (TNA) Even as the state government continues to rubbish reports that villages in Uttar Pradesh were emerging as the latest hotspots of COVID, a village head of Ghazipur has written to the district magistrate (DM) listing the names of 16 people who have perished to the deadly virus in the past few days.

The letter written by Seem Jaiswal, the head of Sauram village falling under Nandganj police station of Ghazipur, she has said that as many as sixteen people - Pappu Gaur, Hari Yadav, Ram Vriksh Yadav, Jagannath Kushwaha.... have died due to Coronavirus like symptoms. Alerting the district administration to take immediate steps, the village head has urged the DM to come to their rescue as there was panic amongst the villagers.

Ghazipur DM Mangla Prasad Singh, who came in for some wholesome praise for his intervention in getting a COVID patient an oxygen cylinder (an audio has gone viral), said that there was no need for the village egad to have sent me a letter and that she could have dialled him.

He however added that a team of the health department along with a magistrate has been dispatched to the village and tests will be done after which medication will be given as per protocol.
