A Day After He Red-Flagged Alleged Graft By A UP Minister, FIR Lodged Against AAP Law Maker Sanjay Singh

Lucknow, August 10 (TNA) In a late evening development which is set to have far-reaching political consequences, an FIR was lodged by the Lucknow Police against AAP MP Sanjay Singh, who has been at the forefront of what he claims is a battle to "expose the corruption in the Yogi Adityanath-led UP government".

Two days after he alleged that Dr Mahendra Singh, the Jal Shakti Minister in the state and a close associate of the chief minister was involved in a massive multi-million rupees scam in the Jal Jeevan Mission, the FIR was lodged at the Hazratganj police station under sections 417, 465, 469, 501, 505(1)(b) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The FIR was lodged after a ruling party legislator from Basti, Ajay Singh filed a complaint against the Rajya Sabha MP of AAP, accusing him of bringing disrepute to the minister and the government based on fabricated documents. The FIR involves defamation and many other charges.

The minister had trashed the charges soon after the first presser of Singh but the AAP MP stuck to his guns and held another media conference in New Delhi on Monday and had repeated the charges.
