72-Year-Old Woman Trapped In Debris Of Collapsed Lucknow Building Dies At Hospital

Lucknow, January 25 (TNA) In the first casualty of the building collapse incident in the state capital on Tuesday, a 72-year-old woman died of her injuries on Wednesday, police said. The decased has been identified as Begum Haider, mother of Samajwadi Party (SP) spokesman Abbas Haider and Congress leader Zeeshan Haider.

She had been admitted to the Civil Hospital after being pulled out of the rubble after fifteen hours but could not be saved. The wife of Abbas is still trapped in the rubble of the building that came crashing late last night.

Rescue work is still on in the four-storeyed building at Wazir Hasan road. meanwhile, chief minister Yogi Adityanath has taken serious view of the incident and has constituted a three-member committee comprising of divisional commissioner Roshan Jacob, JCP Lucknow Piyush Mordia and chief engineer of the PWD.

They have been asked to conduct the probe with immediate effect and submit a report to the government within a week. In a related development, Roshan Jacob has asked concerned authorities to identify other buildings in the city that have been built by Yazdaan Builders.
