1.47 Lakh Vials Of Pain Relieving Injections Seized By GRP At Varanasi Cantt Railway Station

Varanasi, March 27 (TNA) GRP personnel on Sunday recovered 1.47 lakh vials (49 boxes) of a pain reliever injection ordered from Vibhuti Express train at Varanasi's Cantt railway station. Samples were sent to the laboratory in Lucknow to check whether the injections were genuine or fake.

According to GRP in-charge Inspector Hemant Kumar Singh, the shopkeeper who asked for the medicine did not come even after being called, on which the police suspect the medicine to be fake. According to Inspector in-charge of GRP Cantt, information was received from the informer that a large quantity of drugs is being supplied in Vibhuti Express.

The GRP personnel were already making their preparations at the station. According to the informer, when the parcel was checked, 49 bottles of pain reliever injection drug was recovered. The medicine has been procured from a company in Howrah, which has been ordered by a shopkeeper based in Durgakund. Its booking was done through parcel on March 23.

Drugs Inspector Chandresh Dwivedi, who reached the spot, told that in case of pain, taking this medicine with the help of injection gives relief, but in case of overdose, it also acts as an intoxicant. Investigation is underway, further action will be taken on the basis of the report. The cost of the recovered medicine is said to be around Rs 11.76 lakh.
