UP Gears Up For A Grand Show At International Yoga Day

Lucknow, June 16 (TNA) hectic preparations are underway at different place of Uttar Pradesh for the 8th edition of the International Yoga Day. Theme of this year is ‘Yoga for Humanity’. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday reviewed the preparations are directed officials and departments to ensure that the mega event which was started by the UN at the behest of prime minister Narendra Modi in 2014, is grander and bigger than its previous avtaar’s.

This year's Yoga Day is being organized in the ‘amrit varsh’ of independence and hence 'mass yoga practice will be organized at 75000 places'. This will include 58000 gram panchayats, 14000 urban wards and the state government aims to connect 3.50 crore people with yoga through various events and live telecast facility.

This year mass yoga exercises are being organized at 75 historical places of the country. Of these, six major places of Uttar Pradesh have been selected. These include Sarnath (Varanasi), Residency (Lucknow), Ayodhya, Kushinagar, Fatehpur Sikri (Agra) and Hastinapur (Meerut). Central ministers will be present here.

Apart from this similar events will be held at the Raj Bhavan (Lucknow), Triveni Sangam (Prayagraj), Jhansi Fort, Mathura, Maa Vindhyavasini Dham Complex, Shri Gorakhnath Temple Complex Gorakhpur, Naimisharanya (Sitapur), Kashi Vishwanath Dham Complex (Varanasi), Bithoor (Kanpur) by the State Government.
