Ireland-India Council Chief Visits Sulabh Campus

New Delhi, April 21 (TNA) Director of the Ireland-India Council, Prashant Shukla, who is also a prominent NRI living in Ireland for more than two decades, visited the Sulabh Campus in the union capital on Thursday. Pankaj Jain, Chairman-CSR Projects, received him and discussed his interests.

He mentioned that owing to a disproportionately large member of cows in Ireland, there is a dire and urgent need of setting up biogas plants in Ireland to dispose of the huge quantities of cow dung.

The issue was discussed at length and later V.P. Singh, Executive Chairman, accompanied him to see the unique Museum of Toilets, models of Sulabh’s innovative technology based twin-pit pour-flush toilets, public toilet based biogas plant and the kitchen using methane of the biogas plant as fuel. He was awed by the rare collection of unique artifacts, pictures and objects in the Museum and took some photos, emphatically saying that he would show them in Ireland.

After visiting the campus, he was warmly received and felicitated by Sulabh’s Founder, Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak. Quite contrary to his business interests, he showed interest in the Founder’s life, ensuing struggles and glorious triumphs achieved by him.

He was so inspired that he went on to say that Mahatma Gandhi’s dreams have indeed been fulfilled by him. At the end he expressed his gratitude for such warm hospitality extended to him and he invited the Founder of Sulabh International to visit Ireland, which was accepted graciously.
