IIT Kanpur Research Scholar Dies By Suicide, Investigation Underway

Kanpur, February 10 (TNA) A tragic case of suicide has emerged from IIT Kanpur, where a research scholar, Ankit Yadav, was found dead in his hostel room. Ankit, a first-year PhD student in the Chemistry Department, hailed from Noida, Uttar Pradesh. He had secured admission to IIT Kanpur through the UGC fellowship program and was residing in Hostel Room No. 103.

According to police reports, Ankit, 24, took his own life by hanging in his hostel room around 5 PM on Monday. He was immediately rushed to the campus health center, where doctors declared him dead. Authorities promptly informed his family, and police officials arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation. A forensic team was also called in to collect evidence.

The exact reason behind the suicide remains unknown. IIT Kanpur’s administration has stated that they are cooperating with authorities to determine the circumstances leading to the incident. Investigations are ongoing, and all possible angles are being explored to understand what led to this unfortunate event.
