When Covid Second Wave Was Ravaging Delhi, Kejriwal Govt Spent Rs 63.86 Crore On Advertisements: RTI

New Delhi, July 25 (TNA) At a time when hundreds were dying die to lack of oxygen and shortage of beds in hospitals in Delhi, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal was on a splurge of advertisements and spending crores on self-promotion, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has claimed. In a tweet, the IT cell head of the ruling party, Amit Malviya, quoting a RTI response, made these claims.

According to the reply to an RTI, Arvind Kejriwal spent approximately Rs 71 lakh per day on self promotion, that is a whooping Rs 63.86 crore between Apr-Jun 2021. How many oxygen plants or beds could have been arranged for the same? How many lives, Malviya asked in his tweet.

Malviya, in his tweet asked on how many oxygen beds and other medicial facilitoes could have been arranged in this much money?

According to the RTI response (F.No.2(1)/RTI/Accounts/DIP/2020-2021dated July 16, 2021, in April this year the AAP government spent Rs 3.42 crores, in May 7.77 crore and in June 62.67 crore in advertisements and other publicity which includes print media, electronic media, internet media and others as a whole under the advertisement and publicity.

This likely to come as a huge jolt to the AAP and chief minister Kejriwal who are daggers drawn with the Modi government, accusing it of doing nothing for Covid patients and of being busy in self-promotion. Efforts to get a reaction from AAP leaders proved futile as none was available for a comment.
