Veteran Bollywood Actress Meenu Mumtaz Passes Away In Canada

New Delhi, Oct 23 (TNA) Veteran Bollywood actress who earned a name for herself in the black and white era of Hindi films, Meenu Mumtaaz paased away in Canada on Saturday, her brother Anwar Ali informed. She was 79. She was the sister of legendary actor Mehmood and Meenu's pairing was with the most popular comedian Johnnie Walker.

Both had worked together in many films. Meenu did comedy on screen and also made a lot of headlines with side roles. She married director Syed Ali Akbar in the year 1963. Meenu was born on 26 April 1942.

She was given a break in films by Devika Rani who hired Meenu as a dancer in Bombay Talkies. Meenu made her Bollywood debut with the film 'Ghar Ghar Mein Diwali'. This film was released in the year 1955. In this film, she played the role of a dancer living in the village. Although Meenu did not get much success from this film.
