Uttarakhand Government Cancels Annual Chaar Dham Yatra Due To COVID Surge

Dehradun, April 29 (TNA) After being slammed world over for their green signal to Kumbh, where millions converged and returned with possible COVID infection, the Uttarakhand government on Thursday announced the cancellation of the famous, annual Chaar Dham yatra.

Lakhs of people from all over the country converge every year on the hill state to offer prayers at the Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunotri, and Gangotri shrines.

Informing of the decision, chief minister Teerth Singh Rawat said the raging Coronavirus wave had forced the state government to take this decision. Now only the priests are allowed to perform puja at these shrines.
