UP STF Arrests Four In Mumbai For Issuing Fake Halal Certificates

Lucknow, February 3 (TNA) Four persons have been arrested for issuing fake Halal certificates. All are officials of the Halal Council of India. These arrests have been made in Mumbai. Many organizations including Halal Council of India were named in the case.

STF on Monday arrested four officials of the Halal Council of India from Mumbai in connection with the extortion game by illegally issuing Halal certificates. It consists of the President, Vice President, General Secretary and Treasurer of the Council. STF has collected many important facts by interrogating the accused.

Shailendra Kumar Sharma, former president of BJP's Awadh region, and a resident of Aishbagh, had lodged an FIR at Hazratganj police station on November 18. The allegation was that the products (especially vegetarian) do not require Halal certification. She is also getting a Halal certificate. This entire fraud is being done to increase the sales of products. Many organizations including Halal Council of India were named in the case.

STF DSP Deepak Kumar Singh said that after investigating the case and gathering solid evidence, Halal Council of India President Maulana Habib Yusuf, Vice President Maulana Muidshir Sapadia, General Secretary Mohammad Tahir Zakir Hussain Chauhan and Treasurer Mohammad Anwar have been arrested. All are residents of Mumbai.
