Two 19-Year-Olds Lose Lives to Pothole-Ridden Roads in Palghar and Nagpur

Palghar, September 17 (TNA) Maharashtra’s deteriorating road conditions have once again claimed innocent lives. On Monday, two 19-year-olds, Hemant Patil from Palghar and Mahendra Fating from Nagpur, died in separate road accidents caused by potholes.

Hemant, who worked at the Blue Star Company in Vasuri and was the sole breadwinner of his family, was riding his scooter on the Wada-Bhiwandi Highway when his vehicle skidded after colliding with a trailer. He died on the spot, leaving his family devastated.

In another tragic incident in Nagpur, Mahendra Fating lost control of his motorcycle after plunging into a water-logged pothole. The teenager suffered severe head injuries and succumbed instantly. Mahendra was the nephew of former councillor Sarita Ishwar Kaware. His body has been sent to Mayo Hospital for a post-mortem as police continue their investigation.

The twin tragedies have sparked outrage among locals, who allege that the administration’s negligence and unfulfilled promises of development are directly responsible for such frequent accidents.

In a symbolic protest, citizens garlanded potholes to draw attention to the dangerous conditions. Meanwhile, large craters on roads leading from Nashik to the Trimbakeshwar Temple continue to pose fatal risks, turning daily commutes into a gamble with life.
