Tragic Bus Plunge in Udhampur Claims 15 Lives
Srinagar, April 20 (TNA) A passenger bus en route from Ramnagar to Udhampur veered off a treacherous blind curve near Kagort village in Jammu & Kashmir’s Udhampur district around 10 AM on Monday, plunging into a deep gorge and killing at least 15 people while injuring about 20 others.
Rescue teams, aided by local residents, extracted survivors from the wreckage amid challenging hilly terrain, rushing the critically injured to GMC Udhampur and airlifting some to GMC Jammu for advanced care.
Officials suspect driver error or road conditions on the accident-prone Ramnagar-Udhampur highway contributed, with a full probe underway as emergency services continue operations.
Authorities are still conducting rescue operations and post-mortems at GMC Udhampur, prioritizing medical care over identifications amid the chaos near Kagort village.
