Sanjay Singh Stages Sit-In Inside Parliament, Seeks To Know How Bills Were passed Despite NDA Being In Minority

NEW DELHI || Rajya Sabha member and senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh on Monday staged a sit-in inside the parliament in protests against what he said was "muzzling of the democracy".

Soon after he, along with seven other law makers were suspended by the Rajya Sabha chairman for unruly behaviour on Sunday, during passage of important Bills, Singh began is protest.

He said that he will not end his protest unless the ruling party explains how despite being in minority and not having enough numbers for the passage of the contentious anti-Farmer Bills, the Bills were passed. "How did it happen when the ruling party was in minority in the Upper House" Sanjay Singh mused.

Eight opposition members were suspended from the Rajya Sabha this morning for the rest of the session over unprecedented chaos in the house during the passing of controversial farm bills on Sunday, but they refused to leave.

The members, including Trinamool Congress's Derek O'Brien, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)'s Sanjay singh, Congress's Rajeev Satav and CPM's KK Ragesh, were told they had displayed "unruly behavior especially with the Chair and gross disorderly conduct".
