Samsung’s Privacy Display Set for Galaxy S26 Ultra Debut; Apple MacBooks May Adopt Tech by 2029
Bengaluru, February 16 (TNA) Samsung has officially confirmed that its upcoming flagship smartphones will introduce a new “Privacy Display” feature, aimed at enhancing user privacy in public environments. The technology is expected to debut with the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, positioning it as one of the first devices to integrate the advanced screen protection system.
The Privacy Display feature is designed to reduce screen visibility from side angles, helping users prevent “shoulder surfing” in crowded places such as buses, airports, elevators, and public queues. Unlike conventional privacy screen protectors that permanently dim displays and affect clarity, Samsung’s solution is believed to offer adjustable settings. Users may be able to customise how much of their screen remains visible to others, allowing a more flexible and premium privacy experience.
Reports suggest that the feature could rely on Samsung Display’s advanced panel innovations, including its Flex Magic Pixel technology. It is also expected to provide selective privacy controls, enabling users to shield specific elements like notification pop-ups or individual apps rather than obscuring the entire display. The functionality was recently spotted within a beta version of Samsung’s One UI 8.5 software, where it appeared in the Samsung Tips app and could reportedly be activated via the Settings menu or Quick Panel toggle.
Meanwhile, industry insights indicate that Apple could follow Samsung’s lead in the coming years. According to media reports, Apple may integrate Samsung’s Privacy Display technology into its Apple MacBook lineup by 2029. If adopted, premium MacBook models are likely to receive the feature first.
Samsung is expected to officially unveil the Galaxy S26 series, including the S26 Ultra, at its upcoming Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled for February 25 in San Francisco.
