Samajwadi Party Announces National Executive, Shivpal And Swami Prasad Maurya Are National General Secretaries

January 29 (TNA) The Samajwadi Party’s national excutive was announced on Sunday and the prominent names that were noticed include Shivpal Singh Yadav and Swami Prasad Maurya, both of whom have been named as the national generel secretaries of the party.

While Shivpal, the once enstranged uncle of party chief Akhilesh Yadav seems to have been rewarded for his role in ensuring an easy cruise for Dimple Yadav in the Mainpuri Lok Sabha by-polls, Maurya’s name surprised many as he was embroiled in an unsavoury controversy recently for his objectionable comments on the Ramcharitmanas.

The party had initially distanced itself from the comment which drew sharp reactions from the BJP, the saffron camp and Hindu religious outfits and even some FIR’s were lodged against him , his elevation in the party has taken many by surprise. And it surely is set to give fresh ammunition to the BJP to label the SP as anti-Hindu.

Akhilesh Yadav has been relected as national president, Kironmoy Nanda as the national vice-president, Ram Gopal Yadav as the national principal general secretary, Mohd Azam Khan, Ravi Prakash Verma, Balram Yadav, Vishambhar Prasad Nishad, Avdhesh Prasad, Inderjeet Saroj, Ramjilal Suman, Lalji Verma, Ram Achal Rajbhar, Joe Antony, Harendra Malik, Neeraj Chaudhary have been naed as national general secretaries.

Sudeep Ranjan Sen has been named as party’s national treasurer, Madhu Gupta and Kamal Akhtar as national secretaries and 17 others have been appointed as national secretaries. The national executive would have Jaya Bachchan, Ram Govind Chaudhary, Abu Asim Azmi, Chandrapal Singh Yadav, Javed Ali Khan as members amongst others.
