Nainital HC Takes Grim View Of Crowds At Tourist Spots, Seeks Govt Response

Dehradun, July 7 (TNA) The Nainital High Court (HC) took a grim view of the large crowds flocking to the tourists spots - Nainital and Mussoorie in the hill state of Uttarakhand.

Seeking a response from the state government on why the Covid rules were being fluted with such impunity and what had it done to stop this, the HC gave it time till July 28 to file a detailed response to this worrying situation.

The Chief Justice Raghvendra Singh Chauhan made these observations while sharing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed before it regarding irregularities in the Chaar Dhaam annual Yatra and the Haridwar Kumbh. The HC has asked the chief secretary, health secretary and tourism secretary to file a detailed response.

Large crowds have turned up and tourist spots in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh after the unlock and easing of rules, triggering worry in the medical fraternity with regards to COVID.
