Muthoot Group Chairman Falls From Stairs, Dies At 72

New Delhi, March 6 (TNA) Muthoot group chairman MG George Muthoot passed away at a Delhi hospital on Friday, the family said. He was 72 and had fallen down from the stairs at his residence. He was rushed to the Escorts hospital but could not be saved and was pronounced dead on arrival.

The deceased businessman was known for his leadership qualities that led to a phenomenal growth in the company's fortune. Not only did the flagship company Muthoot Finance Limited become the biggest gold finance company in the Non-banking finance companies (NBFC's) but also opened 5500 branches across the country.

In 2020, he was named as the 36th richest Indian and according to the Forbes magazine, he was the riches Indian Malayali.
