Bengaluru, August 23 (TNA) The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has released captivating images taken by the Lander Position Detection Camera (LPDC) from an altitude of 70 km. These images provide a glimpse of the Moon's dark side, where the 'Vikram' lander is set to touch down on August 23, 2023, at 6:02 pm IST.

ISRO shared the images on its official X channel, stating that they will aid the Lander Module in determining its position by matching them with an onboard moon reference map. The agency confirmed the mission's smooth progress, with regular system checks.

Live coverage of the landing operations will begin at 5:20 pm IST on August 23, 2023. Chandrayaan-3 aims to achieve a soft landing on the Moon's south pole, potentially uncovering frozen water. Success would make India the first nation to achieve this feat, exploring a previously untouched part of the Moon.

Several space-faring nations are eyeing Moon base station establishment to advance their space ambitions. As the Moon becomes a new focal point, Chandrayaan-3's success could pave the way for future exploration and scientific discoveries."
