Hijab Controversy Reaches The Supreme Court

New Delhi, February 11 (TNA) The controversy over the demand for wearing hijab in schools and colleges of Karnataka has now reached the Supreme Court. On Thursday, the Karnataka High Court had issued an interim order not to wear hijab in schools and colleges till a decision in this regard was taken. Now a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court challenging this order.

The Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court, Ritu Raj Awasthi, while hearing the matter, had said that students cannot insist on wearing religious clothes in the institutions. Along with this, the court had said that schools and colleges should be opened for studies immediately.

After this, the Karnataka government has also decided to open educational institutions in a phased manner from Monday.
