High Court Takes Suo Motu Cognisance Of Anna University Assault Case

Chennai, December 27 (TNA) The Madras High Court has directed the Tamil Nadu government and police to submit a detailed report on the Anna University sexual assault case. Advocate R. Varalakshmi's letter highlighted investigation lapses, including the survivor’s identity being exposed via a leaked FIR.

She has urged the transfer of the case to the CBI, citing confusion over only one arrest despite the fact that the FIR mentioned two suspects. The court has taken serious note of the matter and is considering further action. BJP leader Annamalai on Friday whipped himself publicly in protest against the state government's inaction in the case.
