Haryana CM Announces Hike In Journalists’ Pension

Chandigarh, April 24 (TNA) Haryana Chief Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar, on Sunday announced to increase of Journalists’ Pension from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 11,000. He said that now the pension amount of Journalists will increase in proportion to the increase in DA annually on automation mode.

Haryana CM said this while addressing the 2 day All India Media Meet of the confederation of Newspapers and News Agencies Employees Organizations held at Municipal Bhawan Building, Chandigarh.

To meet the emerging challenges in the print media industry, the Chief Minister, rooted for ensuring a conducive work atmosphere for the field journalists and providing them the requisite wherewithal. He added the print media will always remain relevant and credible, and the stakeholders need to rise to the occasion.

Deliberating on the nuances of the media in carrying out their activities, CM advised that dissemination of media messages through regional languages will ensure pervasiveness of media messages to the last person of the society.

He stated that Government of Haryana provides a number of incentives to media persons for enabling them to discharge their duties effectively which includes free monthly bus travel up to 4,000 Kms, expanding the ambit of Ayushman Bharat Yojana to the dependents of Journalists, media centres equipped with modern facilities, journalists pension and several other initiatives.

The Chief Minister said that apart from field media persons, we have plans to include desk journalists in all such welfare schemes. He stated that the media being the fourth pillar of the world’s largest democracy, we will assure all possible assistance for them to discharge their duties.
