Grand Old Man Of Himachal Pradesh, Former CM Virbhadra Singh Passes Away

Shimla, July 8 (TNA) Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and veteran Congress leader Virbhadra Singh died at IGMC, Shimla on Thursday morning. He was battling post-covid complications, IGMC Medical Superintendent Janak informed the media.

The 87-year-old Congress stalwart who had caught covid infection twice on April 12 and June 12 was being treated in IGMC hospital after testing negative on June 21 this year. He was a kidney patient undergoing dialysis regularly and had suffered a heart attack four days ago.

This octogenarian leader had dominated the political spectrum of Himachal Pradesh for the last six decades and was respected across all parties. Virbhadra Singh, was a nine-time MLA and five time MP, was representing Arki assembly constituency in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh.

The grand old man of Himachal Pradesh politics, Virbhadra Singh was was initiated into politics by India's first PM Jawaharlal Nehru in sixties and had remained active since then, leading the political destiny of Congress party in Himachal Pradesh. He contributed immensely in the development of the hill state which now stands tall in the country in all human development indicators.
