Eminent Bhajan Singer Narendra Chanchal Passes Away

New Delhi, January 22 (TNA) The voice that sang thousands of bhajans and regaled faithfuls, specially of Goddess Durga - Narendra Chanchal, passed away at a Delhi hospital on Friday. He was 80. He was in Delhi's Apollo hospital since November end.

His demise sent his fans and friends in mourning. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, president Ram Nath Kovind and many others mourned the passing away of the famous Bhajan singer. "Extremely saddened to hear the news of Narendra Chanchal Ji's death. He made a mark in the world of devotional songs. My condolences to his family and fans," the prime minister wrote on Twitter.

Songs sung by Narendra Chanchal ring in the air as they enter the famous Vaisho Devi shrine.

He belted out many chart buster bhajans in Hindi films that included Chalo Bulawa Aaya Hai..., Ambe Tu Hai Jagadambe Kali, Hanuman Chalisa, Sankat Mochan Naam Tiharo, Ram Se Bada Ram Ka Naam among others.

His song Main Benaam Ho Gaya was also a huge hit during the 70's and is still one of the most followed songs by young and budding singers. The News Agency joins his fans in extending condolences on the passing away of Chanchal.
