DRI Recovers 293 Kgs of Heroin Stashed In Gunny Bags In Mumbai

Mumbai, July 5 (TNA) The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Mumbai has recovered 293.81 kgs of heroin in six gunny bags concealed in two containers packed with semi-processed talc stones imported by a Punjab-based firm from Afghanistan, it said on Monday.

Prabhjit Singh, the proprietor of the firm which imported that consignment, was arrested by DRI, Amritsar Regional Unit on July 1. He was brought to Mumbai & produced before the Panvel Court on Monday and has been remanded to DRI custody till July 12.

Two associates of Prabhjit Singh were arrested by DRI Indore Zonal Unit officers from Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh & are being brought on transit remand from Indore to Mumbai.
