Dera Pramukh Of Nanakmatta Gurdwara Shot Dead In Uttarakhand

Khatima, March 28 (TNA) In a shocking incident a Sikh spiritual leader was shot dead on Thursday morning by bike-borne assailants. According to information, the gun-carrying duo on their bike shot at Karseva Dera Pramukh of Nanakmatta Gurdwara Tarsem Singh at close range. A police official said the assailants were carrying a long-barrel gun and shot him first from a distance and then two fires from close range.

An official said that both the killers were wearing turbans and CCTV footage has revealed that while one was wearing a navy blue turban the other was wearing a white one. One assailant was in jeans that the other in a casual lower. Tarsem Singh had only recently feared for his life.

SSP of Udhamsingh Nagar Dr Manju Nath TC told reporters that the Sikh spiritual leader was fatally shot and he was rushed to a nearby medical facility where he was pronounced dead. A manhunt has been launched by the police to nab the culprits even as tension rose in the area after the killing.

Singh was popular in political circles and his murder is sure to up the political temperatures in the hill state, in the run up to the Lok Sabha elections.
