Coronavirus Surge In Maharashtra, 15000 Plus Fresh Cases In Single Day

Mumbai, March 13 (TNA) Maharashtra once again seems to be in grip of a Coronavirus surge as the state has reported 15,000-plus fresh cases of the deadly virus that has so far claimed thousands in the state. This, the government informed, is the state's highest single day tally this year.

56 people have perished to the illness in the last 24 hours. Maharashtra is the worst-hit state in India and had last month reported 6,000 daily coronavirus cases after a lull of three months.

Within days, the daily Covid number is set to breach the 16,000 mark. As of Friday, active cases stood at 1,10,485, which was an increase of over 4,000 since the last 24-hours.

Currently 5,42,693 people are in home quarantine and 4,884 people are in institutional quarantine, the statement read. On Thursday, the state reported 14,317 coronavirus cases and 57 deaths. A week-long total lockdown has been imposed in Nagpur after a spike in cases, night curfew has been clamped in Pune and Akola is also under lockdown.
