Assam Imposes Beef Ban in Public Spaces
Guwahati, December 4 (TNA) The Assam government on Wednesday announced a ban on the serving and consumption of beef in all hotels, restaurants, and public places across the state. This decision was made public after a cabinet meeting.
This decision, observers pointed out, reflected the government's stance on cultural heritage and communal harmony championed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The ban has elicited mixed reactions, with some praising it as a step towards preserving cultural values, while others view it as an infringement on dietary freedoms.
