Ambience Mall Owner Raj Singh Gehlot Arrested For Alleged Bank Loan Fraud

New Delhi, July 29 (TNA) Owner of the famous Ambience Mall in Gurugram, Raj Singh Gehlot was on Thursday arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The arrest as made in a case related to banking fraud to the tune of Rs 200 crore, an official said. He is likely to be produced before a Delhi court later in the day where the ED is likely to demand his custody for further questioning.

Last year the ED had raided places associated with him and his friends and recovered foreign currency equivalent to Rs 16 lakh. According to ED, the case against Gehlot was registered in 2019 for money laundering in the construction of five-star Leela Ambience Convention Hotel situated near Yamuna Sports Complex in Delhi.

The investigation under prevention of money laundering act (PMLA) revealed that Gehlot and his associates siphoned off a huge portion of the money sanctioned by a consortium of banks for the hotel project through a maze of companies controlled by them, the agency said.
