36 Rioters Arrested So Far For Violence And Arson In Haldwani

Haldwani, February 14 (TNA) A total of 36 accused have been arrested so far for rioting and arson in Banbhulpura violence in Haldwani, Senior Superintendent of Police Prahlad Narayan Meena told the media on Tuesday. Along with this, immediately after the Chief Minister's announcement, the operation of the police post has been started in Malik's garden, the place where the violence took place in Banbhulpura.

One sub-inspector and four constables have been deployed here. Apart from this, 41 weapons have been seized from the curfew-affected area and the properties of the named accused who are absconding are also being identified.

On February 8, while removing encroachment in the garden of the owner of Banbhulpura, there was heavy stone pelting on police and municipal corporation employees. Hundreds of policemen were injured, after which Banbhulpura police station was burnt by the rioters and hundreds of vehicles were burnt by the rioters. Since then, a curfew has been imposed in Banbhulpura and the police are continuously arresting the rioters. Five persons were killed in the riots.
