Mumbai, October 29 (TNA) Indian equity markets closed higher on Thursday, recovering from the previous session’s losses as buying emerged across key sectors. The BSE Sensex gained around 537 points, or 0.73%, to settle near 73,783, while the NSE Nifty 50 rose approximately 128 points, or 0.56%, to close at 22,826.65.

Recovery After Weak Opening

Both benchmark indices opened largely flat but strengthened during the session. The Sensex climbed to an intraday high of around 73,958, while the Nifty moved above the 22,800 mark as the session progressed. The recovery followed a sharp decline on Wednesday, when the Sensex fell 352.64 points, and the Nifty slipped 50.90 points to close at 22,698.85.

Sectoral Buying Supports Indices

Buying interest was seen in FMCG, banking, financial services and selected heavyweight stocks. Gains in Reliance Industries and other large-cap companies helped support the benchmark indices. However, metal and some public-sector banking stocks remained under pressure, limiting the broader market’s gains.

Investors Track Global Cues

Investors continued to assess the US Federal Reserve’s decision to keep its federal funds target range unchanged at 3.75%–4%, as well as developments in crude oil prices and foreign fund flows. The market’s strong recovery from its early levels reflected renewed buying at lower valuations, though analysts cautioned that volatility could continue amid global economic uncertainty and ongoing corporate earnings announcements.
