New Delhi, September 27 (TNA) The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has deferred its proposed agitation programmes and strike actions after reaching an understanding with the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) on key issues concerning bank employees.
The decision was taken after a meeting between representatives of the IBA and UFBU at 9:30 pm on September 27, according to a circular issued by the United Forum of Bank Unions. As part of the understanding, a high-level committee comprising representatives of the IBA and UFBU will be formed immediately to examine the demand for declaring the remaining Saturdays as holidays.
The committee will explore all possible alternatives, consult stakeholders and work towards a solution that takes into account the interests of all stakeholders, particularly customers. The two sides also agreed that discussions on the Performance Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for Scale IV and above officers would begin with the IBA’s proposal to the government. The proposal will seek to address observations raised by unions and associations on the scheme.
Other residual issues listed in the minutes of the meeting held on March 8, 2024, will also be discussed between the parties for their early resolution. “In view of the above, it was agreed by the UFBU that the proposed agitational programmes and strike actions will be deferred,” the circular stated.
The circular was signed by representatives of the All India Bank Officers’ Confederation, All India Bank Officers’ Association, All India Bank Officers’ Confederation of Bank Officers’ Congress, Bank Employees Federation of India, Indian National Bank Officers’ Congress and other constituent organisations of the UFBU.
