Dehradun, October 4 (TNA) Badrinath Dham in Uttarakhand has registered a new record in pilgrim footfall, with more than 17.79 lakh devotees visiting the shrine for darshan for the first time in its history.
According to the latest figures, 17,79,805 pilgrims had visited the temple by September 22. The milestone was achieved within 153 days of the pilgrimage season, which began on April 23.

The record has been set even though several weeks remain before the temple closes for the winter season. Officials expect the number of visitors to rise further before the annual closure of the shrine.

The state government has been focusing on improving facilities and managing the growing number of pilgrims during the Char Dham Yatra. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that arrangements will be strengthened to ensure a more organised and convenient pilgrimage experience.
