New Delhi, October 10 (TNA) YouTuber Dhruv Rathee was detained by Delhi Police from his residence in Sector 56, Gurugram, on Saturday, October 10, ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) proposed protest at Jantar Mantar.
Rathee was reportedly on his way to join the demonstration, which was called against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and over allegations related to electoral-roll irregularities. The police had earlier denied permission for the protest, citing security concerns and procedural issues.
The detention came amid heightened security arrangements in the national capital. Delhi Police had reportedly detained around 150 protesters at various locations to prevent them from reaching Jantar Mantar.
The CJP condemned Rathee’s detention and alleged that the action amounted to a crackdown on dissent. The party demanded the immediate release of Rathee and other protesters and activists detained in connection with the proposed demonstration.
The protest was also linked to the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls and issues concerning voter registration forms, including Form 6.
