New Delhi, September 21 (TNA) An undertrial prisoner identified as Pramod was allegedly murdered inside Rohini Jail after being attacked with a sharp-edged weapon, according to police sources.
The incident reportedly took place in Ward 3 of the prison at around noon. Pramod, who was lodged in the jail in connection with an Arms Act case, was allegedly attacked by fellow inmates following an argument. He was seriously injured and taken to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Preliminary information suggests that the dispute may have been linked to the alleged sale of tobacco inside the jail. However, the exact circumstances surrounding the attack and the identities of all those involved are yet to be officially confirmed.
Police said they received information about the incident at around 12 p.m. An investigation is underway, and authorities are examining how the sharp-edged weapon entered the high-security prison.
Rohini Jail, also known as Central Jail No. 10, operates under the administration of the Tihar prison complex. The incident has raised questions about security arrangements and the availability of prohibited items inside the facility.
