Patna, August 30 (TNA) Panic gripped Bedhna village under Barh police station area in Patna district on Sunday after four local men fell critically ill following alleged consumption of alcohol or another intoxicating substance. The deceased have been identified as Shashi Kumar, 32, Vikas Ram, 40, Pankaj Singh, 45, and Nishu Kumar.

According to family members and villagers, the four were sitting together in a room and had also arranged fish to eat. Shortly after consuming the substance, their condition worsened suddenly, and they became unconscious. Villagers rushed them to a private clinic in Barh, from where they were referred to the subdivisional hospital and later to PMCH in Patna when their condition did not improve.

Doctors said the patients had arrived in a similarly critical condition, with foam coming from the mouths of at least three of them. Despite treatment, all four died during care at PMCH, triggering alarm in the village and prompting concern over whether the deaths were linked to spurious liquor or another poisonous substance.

Officials have not yet confirmed the exact cause of death, and further medical and police investigation is expected to determine what the four men consumed.
