New Delhi, September 3 (TNA) The Delhi government has declared a public holiday on Friday, September 11, 2026, for all its offices, autonomous bodies and public sector undertakings (PSUs) in view of the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit being hosted in the national capital.  The notification, issued by the General Administration Department on September 3 under the directions of the Lieutenant Governor, said the holiday has been announced to facilitate security, traffic management and other logistical arrangements for the high-level international summit.

Under the order, all government offices, autonomous institutions and PSUs under the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi will remain closed on September 11, with normal work suspended for the day.

The decision follows similar arrangements by the Centre, with the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions also declaring a holiday for all central government offices in Delhi on the same day to minimise public inconvenience amid motorcade movements and summit-related security measures.

With September 12 and 13 falling on Saturday and Sunday respectively, the holiday will give Delhi residents a three-day long weekend, even as authorities tighten traffic and security protocols around key venues and routes.  Delhi Traffic Police has already announced diversions at multiple points and regulated movement on several roads, with drone surveillance and enhanced checkpoints expected during the summit period.

While the holiday applies to Delhi government and central government offices, the status of private companies, schools and other institutions will depend on their respective policies and any separate advisories issued by education and industry bodies.
