Ceuta, October 14 (TNA) Spain's King Felipe VI has visited the North African territories of Ceuta and Melilla, which are claimed by neighbouring Morocco. The visit to Ceuta on Tuesday marked the first royal visit since 2007, when a diplomatic crisis erupted between Spain and Morocco.
During the visit, King Felipe VI said Ceuta and Melilla were "an inalienable part" of Spain. Meanwhile, Spain continues to face a migrant crisis, with authorities setting up thousands of places in temporary shelters and clearing major camps on beaches. However, some migrants continue to live on surrounding hills and roam the streets.
The crisis has fuelled anger among local residents and put pressure on Socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez ahead of a November 29 general election, in which migration is expected to be a key issue.
