Islamabad, August 21 (TNA) Pakistan’s Supreme Court has ordered former prime minister Imran Khan to be transferred from prison to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad, his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), said, following repeated concerns about his health. Khan, 73, is reportedly suffering from several medical problems, including an eye condition.

The court directed prison authorities to transfer him to the private hospital within 48 hours and keep him there until the next hearing on Sept. 16, according to reports. It also ordered a medical board to supervise his treatment, including specialists in eye care, cardiology and general medicine, along with his personal physician.

PTI has welcomed the order and pressed for immediate implementation. The government, however, has already moved to challenge the ruling, adding another layer to the political and legal standoff surrounding the jailed former prime minister.
