Ayodhya, September 8 (TNA) Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a significant pay hike for Anganwadi workers and helpers in Uttar Pradesh, raising the monthly honorarium for workers from ₹8,000 to ₹12,000 and for helpers from ₹4,000 to ₹6,000. The announcement was made at a function in Ayodhya’s Rajkiya Inter College, where the CM also honoured Anganwadi workers and addressed a large gathering of frontline ICDS staff.
Along with the increased honorarium, Yogi said Anganwadi workers and helpers will now be covered under a ₹5 lakh health insurance scheme and will receive an additional allowance for sarees. “Just as the situation in Ayodhya has changed, the condition of Anganwadi workers has also changed in the last nine years,” he said while speaking at the event.
Yogi contrasted the present arrangements with the past, alleging that earlier “Anganwadi centres lay deserted” and funds meant for them were misused during the previous Samajwadi Party regime. He claimed that over the last nine years his government has systematically strengthened the Anganwadi network and improved working conditions for workers and helpers.
The revised rates will apply across Uttar Pradesh and are expected to benefit tens of thousands of Anganwadi workers and helpers who run the state’s rural and urban child nutrition and early education centres.
