Lucknow, September 15 (TNA) The resignation of Uttar Pradesh-cadre IAS officer Divya Mittal has been accepted, ending her 13-year career in the Indian Administrative Service. Mittal announced the development on social media and shared a line from poet Jaishankar Prasad: “Prashast punya panth hai, badhe chalo, badhe chalo.”

Mittal, a 2013-batch officer, had submitted her resignation around 15 days ago. She had described her decision as voluntary and called her administrative career an “unforgettable journey.”

Cited Personal Reasons

Mittal had cited personal and family reasons for leaving the service. Before her resignation, she was serving as Special Secretary in Uttar Pradesh’s Board of Revenue and had earlier worked as district magistrate in Deoria, Mirzapur and Sant Kabir Nagar.

In earlier remarks, Mittal said the decision had been carefully considered and was based on her priorities, interests and family. She described the IAS as one chapter of her life rather than her entire identity.

Emotional Farewell

In her farewell message, Mittal reflected on her years in public service and the experiences she gained while working with needy families, farmers and people with disabilities. She said her government position had ended, but the larger dream that had brought her into public service remained alive.

Her resignation has drawn attention because IAS officers rarely leave the service after more than a decade of work. The acceptance formally brings her tenure to an end.
