Banda, August 26 (TNA) A tragic accident in Gujaini village under the Marka police station area claimed the lives of three farmers after they were swept away by a rain-swollen drain while returning home after grazing cattle. The incident took place on Tuesday evening, turning the village into a scene of grief and mourning.
According to reports, the farmers had gone across the drain for farming work and were returning with fodder for cattle when the drain, swollen due to heavy rain, suddenly turned dangerous. Around 6:30 pm, the group attempted to cross the drain by holding each other’s hands, but the strong current swept them away one after another.
Three people, identified as Komal, Kusum and Siyarani, drowned in the incident, while one farmer managed to save himself by swimming to safety. Villagers, police and local divers later recovered the bodies after an extensive search.
The accident has left the village in deep shock, with mourners gathering at the homes of the victims. Police said the bodies were recovered and the matter is being documented as part of the official inquiry.
