Lucknow, September 14 (TNA) A 31-year-old salesman died after trespassing into a neighbourhood residential building and jumping from the second-floor rooftop railing in the Rajajipuram area on Monday morning. He was taken to Rani Lakshmibai Hospital in a critical state, where doctors declared him dead.
The deceased has been identified as Manish Kumar Srivastava, a resident of Sector 6, Sapna Colony, under the Talkatora police station limits. According to local residents and police reports, the incident occurred around 6 am when Srivastava suddenly entered a neighbouring house through its main gate. When occupants spotted him and raised an alarm, he fled upward to the terrace and climbed across to an adjoining building’s roof.
Neighbours gathered on the street and repeatedly appealed to him to step away from the edge and climb down safely. Srivastava remained standing on the second-floor terrace railing for a brief period before suddenly leaping off.
Local residents and police immediately rushed him in an ambulance to Rani Lakshmibai Hospital in Rajajipuram, where attending doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. The victim’s father, Indrajit Bahadur Srivastava, who works at a local dairy, stated that his son was employed as a salesman at an auto parts shop in Lalbagh.
Family members revealed that Manish had not reported to work for nearly a month and had developed severe alcohol dependency. His wife had reportedly left home about 20 days prior following domestic disagreements over his drinking, pushing him into deep depression. His relatives stated that he walked out of the house early Monday morning despite their attempts to stop him.
Officers from the local police station reached the scene, completed preliminary inquest formalities, and sent the body for a post-mortem examination. Investigators are recording statements from eyewitnesses and family members to verify the sequence of events.
