Lucknow, September 16 (TNA) Police have arrested a man accused of hitting a woman with his car and allegedly dragging her on the vehicle’s bonnet near Janeshwar Mishra Park in Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar Extension area, officials said.

The accused has been identified as Shahnawaz. According to reports, the incident took place after an argument between the accused and the woman. A video of the incident later surfaced on social media, prompting the police to begin an investigation.

The woman was reportedly struck by the car and carried on its bonnet for some distance before the driver fled the spot. She was taken to a hospital for medical examination and treatment.

Police traced the vehicle using its registration number and arrested Shahnawaz. The car has also been recovered, while another person allegedly involved in the incident, identified in reports as Danish, is being searched for.

A case has been registered at the Gomti Nagar Extension police station under attempt-to-murder provisions, based on the woman’s complaint. Police are questioning the accused and examining CCTV footage and other evidence as part of the investigation.

The incident comes days after a similar hit-and-run case in Gurugram, adding to concerns over reckless driving and violence on city roads.
