Lucknow, August 23 (TNA) Aam Aadmi Party’s Uttar Pradesh in-charge and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Sunday alleged a new “school theft” scandal in the state’s education system, claiming that five primary/composite schools in Jaunpur district are shown as “operational” on the government’s U-DISE portal but have no physical existence—no building, no teachers, no students.

₹1 lakh reward for anyone who finds a ‘missing’ school

In a dramatic challenge, Singh announced he will pay ₹1 lakh in cash from his own salary to anyone who can locate and prove the existence of even one of these five “ghost” schools.  The announcement came as part of AAP’s “Aap Ka School Theek Karo” (Fix Your School) campaign, under which the party has released video evidence of dilapidated government schools across Awadh, Rohilkhand and Braj regions.

The 5 ‘ghost’ schools in Jaunpur

Singh publicly named the five Jaunpur schools that exist on paper but not on the ground:
• Primary School Dhalgar Tola
• Primary School Misirpur Girls
• Composite School Gadan Arzni
• Primary School Urdu Bazar
• Primary School Bag Hasim

He said a letter from the Nagar Shiksha Adhikari (City Education Officer) reportedly notes that the buildings of these schools cannot be located and that landowners have taken possession of the sites.

“File FIR against corrupt officials, not those exposing truth”

“FIR should be filed against corrupt officials, not those exposing the truth; if no action is taken, we will get a case registered through the court under Section 156(3),” Singh said, warning of legal action if the administration fails to act.  Section 156(3) of the CrPC allows a magistrate to order a police investigation, effectively compelling the registration of an FIR in certain cases.
‘School Theek Karo’ campaign: videos, helpline and public evidence

AAP has launched its “School Theek Karo Abhiyan” in Uttar Pradesh, releasing videos highlighting the poor condition of government schools in districts including Varanasi, Ghazipur, Jaunpur and Gorakhpur.  The party has also issued a helpline number—8382928009—for citizens to send videos of dilapidated schools in their areas, which AAP workers say they will verify and use for further public exposure and action.

AAP has previously raised school issues in UP

Sanjay Singh has earlier led campaigns like “School Bachao Abhiyan” in Jaunpur, protesting the closure of thousands of government schools and demanding better infrastructure.  In today’s press conference, he claimed that under the current campaign, videos of around 55 government schools have so far been collected, showing severe infrastructural deficits and systemic neglect.
